Not all battery backup pumps are created equal. Pump quality, battery size and quality of installation all affect the quality of the system. An improper installation may lead to both primary and/or back-up pump failure. (We've seen about half of all backup systems fail, due to improper installations by plumbers).
KBS never uses water powered Back Ups due to their incredibly low water moving capability and they lack of a quality model on the market. They are a good idea but they are not yet up to par and considered unreliable. Comparable to putting a fish tank pump in your sump pit! In addition they do not work during power outages if you have a well.
Pro Series Backup Sump Pumps
These backup sump pump systems are installed with their own discharge line and power source. It is a truly separate backup system in every way, from outlet breaker to a frost free water line outside. This is important as a failure can result from not just a power outage or pump failure, but from any number of other causes. When Kinetic Basement is finished you have 100% backup protection.
We have been using Pro Series pumps for years and are by far the best pump on the market. Installed correctly a Pro Series Battery Back Up would put an end to your worries in the event you have a flood as they are fail safe.
